Margaretha Sproston

SOUTH BEND - Margaretha Sproston, 96, formerly of Randolph Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Monday, Sept. 14, at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Wakarusa, Ind. Margaretha was born on May 19, 1902, in Wirges, Germany. The daughter of Eugene Senn and Eva Marhr Senn.

She was married to Ralph George Sproston, Sr. on June 15, 1922, in Koblenz, Germany. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1980, at the age of 85. Margaretha was also preceded in death by her infant son, Paul Wallace Sproston, and by her son Robert Louis Sproston, Sr.

Margaretha resided in South Bend since the mid 1920's. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 50. Margaretha is survived by her son, Ralph George Sproston, Jr. of Houston, Texas; and by her grandson, Robert Louis Sproston, Jr. of Mishawaka, Ind.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Emmaus Lutheran Church, 929 E. Milton, South Bend. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to her church.
