Martha Jane Spicer, 74, residing on S. 26th Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 1 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, in her home. She was born on Feb. 14, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Walter R. and Sarah (Boyer) Bortz, and lived in this community all of her life.

On July 20, 1946, in South Bend, Martha married Richard L. Spicer, who survives. Also surviving with her husband, Richard of 54 years, is a daughter, Penny Lee Leri of Longmont, Colo.; three granddaughters, Tricia Price, Shelly Bostock and Roxanna McFarland; and by eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Spicer will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, in the funeral home.
