SOUTH BEND - Lorraine F. Sowala, 73,
of Peachstone Drive, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in her home after
an illness. Mrs. Sowala retired in 1977 from Bendix Corp. after
37 years of service. She was born Sept. 29, 1920, in South Bend,
and was a lifelong resident.
On Jan. 18, 1947, in South Bend, as Lorraine
F. Flowers, she married Richard L. Sowala Sr. He survives
with a son, Richard L. Jr. of Woodbridge, Va.; and four
grandchildren. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic
Church, United Auto Workers Retirees, and M.R. Falconettes Nest
No. 200.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the
church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Kaniewski Funeral Home,
where a parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
