MISHAWAKA - Viola M. Southworth, 96, residing in
Mishawaka, IN, formerly of Luelde Street, South Bend, passed away
at 8:10 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, in Golden Living
Center-Fountainview, Mishawaka. She was born March 20, 1912, in
Bicknell, IN, the daughter of Daniel C. and Mary D. (Monical)
McClure, and had lived in South Bend since 1929, coming from
Bicknell. On November 24, 1962, in South Bend, as Viola McClure,
she was united in marriage to Howard I. Southworth Sr. He
preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by
her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Thelma McClure. Mrs.
Southworth is survived by her son, Larry E. Mason of Las
Vegas, NV; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister,
Lucille Villwock of Bicknell, IN; and a nephew, Kenneth E.
and Mary Ann McClure of South Bend. Mrs. Southworth retired in
1974 as a teller with Tower Federal Savings and Loan, South Bend.
She was a member of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2009, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Patrick Somers will officiate. Entombment will follow at Riverview Mausoleum, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until services time Friday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Southworth may be made to Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, 114 North Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46615.
