John Sorgenfrei

John ''Jack'' Sorgenfrei, 65, of Woodsprings Drive, Granger, Ind., passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16, in his residence. John was born on July 19, 1934, in South Bend, Ind., to Mr. Glen and Gladys (Pierson) Sorgenfrei. John was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Dale Sorgenfrei.

 

On July 11, 1959, in Mishawaka, Ind., John married Benita ''Bonnie'' C. Boger. John leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife; daughter, Julie Ann Sorgenfrei of Granger; three brothers, James (Nancy) Sorgenfrei of Granger, Jerry (Nancy) Sorgenfrei of Mishawaka, Ind., and Richard (Sharon) Sorgenfrei of South Bend; and by a sister, Judy (Howard) Sorgenfrei-Mitchel of Texas.

 

John graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1953. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in South Bend, Disabled American Vets, was a Penn High School Booster, belonged to United Auto Workers, and was an avid Penn High School sports fan. John worked for Allied Signal for 41 years of service and retired in 1994. He was in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963.

 

Visitation and funeral services will be held privately on Monday, Sept. 20, at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Homeless Shelters.
