Charles A. Soens

Charles A. Soens, 94, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Monday, April 1, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital. Charles was born on Feb. 3, 1908, in Mishawaka, to Joseph and Alida (Taghon) Soens, both of whom preceded him in death. Charles was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Soens, Arthur Soens and Clarence Soens; a sister, Cecelia Soens; and by a grandson, Brian Feyos.

On May 18, 1935, in the St. Bavo Catholic Church, in Mishawaka, he married Elsie T. Frayman. Charles is survived by his wife, Elsie Soens; their three daughters, Janice Barcus of Mishawaka, Carol (William) Embry of Osceola, Ind., and Patricia (Ronald) Feyos of Mishawaka. Charles is also survived by seven grandchildren, Daniel Barcus of Chicago, Ill., John Barcus of Mishawaka, Eric Embry of Osceola, Jessica (Chris) Fragile of Pleasanton, Calif., Kelly (Daniel) Jandura of Lebanon, Tenn., Aaron Feyos of Mishawaka and Ashley (Jeffery) Zielinski of South Bend, Ind.; a great-granddaughter, Alivia Zielinski of South Bend; and by his sister, Virginia (Fred) Roble of South Bend.

Charles was a co-owner of Soens Electric Company, Inc., for 50 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Bavo Catholic Church, and served for several years on the City of Mishawaka Electrical Board.
