Donald G. Snow

Donald G. Snow, 83, of Mishawaka, passed away on December 6, 2006, in his residence.

Dad was born to the late Charles and Stella (Nuss) Snow, on May 14, 1923, in Gifford, Indiana. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines for a period of time and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a lifetime member of VFW post 360 in Mishawaka. Dad was a millwright at Uniroyal, and worked there for 37 years before his retirement in 1978. He and our mother, Phyllis Kohler, wed on April 5, 1942. She preceded him in death. He married Rose Zavor-Rondot on September 13, 1969, and she also preceded him in death. Dad enjoyed watching and “supervising” the crews around Mishawaka working on the bridges. Dad earned a few of the workers' hats for his loyalty in seeing the projects completed. He was the first person to cross Main St. Bridge after the latest reconstruction was completed. He enjoyed riding his little red scooter around Mishawaka, but most of all he enjoyed his family.

Dad is survived by his children, Sandy Snow of Mishawaka, Donna (Jim) Brown, of Osceola, Deborah (Edward) Hoskin, of Niles, Michigan and Marcia (Mark) Eads, of Mishawaka. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Vincent (Lyndell) Bonney, of Elkhart, Sherry Bonney, Jolenta (Cary) Young, and Donald Brown, all of Mishawaka, Carmen Hoskin of Niles, Michigan, Dana (David) Matthews, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Edward (Devin) Hoskin Jr. of Niles, Michigan, Kimberly Snow, of Mishawaka, and Angelica (Caleb) Polando of Plymouth. Also surviving are his eight great-grandchildren, E.J. Lozano and Gwen Young, both of Mishawaka, Cecilia Matthews of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Gage Hoskin and Brice Williams, both of Niles, Michigan, Tosha Snow, Anthony Ayers, and Cheyenne Mosley, all of Mishawaka. Other survivors include his brother, Glen Snow of Rensselaer, Indiana; and two sisters, Gladys Armstrong of Gifford, Indiana, and Violet (William) LaCosse of Fair Oaks, Indiana. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was preceded by one brother, Ernest Campbell; and five sisters, Jane Snyder, Nora Whitaker, Nellie Barkley, Della Ferrell and Lucille Potts.

Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. Sunday, December 10, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services for Dad will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 11, in the funeral chapel. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service. Officiating the service will be Rev. Ervin Mize. Burial is to follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
