Services Sister Mary Adalia CSC, 84, of Saint Mary’s Convent, who died at 11:45 a.m. Monday at the convent after a lengthy illness, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call today and prior to services Wednesday in the convent parlors, where a wake will be observed at 7 p.m.

 

She was born Hedwige Smucinska on May 30, 1897 in South Bend and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Feb. 2, 1920. She was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1920, and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1922. Throughout he life in the order, she was assigned to housekeeping duties. She served in the convents of the Congregation in Boise, Idaho; Lancaster, Pa.; and Baltimore, Md., before coming to reside in St. Mary’s Convent in 1955. She is survived by several nieces and nephews in the South Bend area.
