Peter S. Smith
At the advanced age of 80 years and 10 months, Peter S. Smith, a retired
farmer, died at 8 o'clock Thursday evening at his home, 216 Studebaker
street. Death followed an illness of two weeks with inflammation of the
bowels. Mr. Smith was born in Frederick county, Indiana, but had lived in
this county 75 years. The last two years he had resided in South
Bend. He was married to Mary A. Kaley Feb. 26, 1865, and is survived by
her and six children, as follows: R. H. Smith, of Perry O., and Ezra W.,
Peter L., Emma F., Etta A., and June V. Smith, of St. Joseph county.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, prayer being offered at the home
at 1 o'clock and the services taking place at the Mt. Pleasant church at 8
o'clock. Rev H. Schleucher will be in charge and interment will be in the
Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
