Millie Louise Smith, 92, residing at the Fountainview Place Nursing Home, Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of 2142 Hollywood Place, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in the nursing home. Mrs. Smith was born on Dec. 20, 1905, in Illinois to the late Charles and Lydia (Redman) Potts, and had lived in this area all of her life.

On Jan. 21, 1928, in South Bend, she married Louis A. Smith, who passed away on Dec. 12, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her son, James L. Smith on Dec. 7, 1997; and by a sister, Lena Laidig. Mrs. Smith is survived by a niece, Norma Johnson of South Bend; a daughter-in-law, Louise Smith of South Bend; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Dorothea Lade of Watseka, Ill. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, Ind., and the American Contract Bridge League.

Services for Millie Louise Smith will be at 1 p.m. on Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Don Francis will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Morocco, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Smith may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
