SOUTH BEND - Nora Lee Smeeton, 86, of South Bend, passed
away on Friday, March 14, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She
was born August 29, 1921, in Kentucky, to the late Eva (Allen)
and Kinney Owens.
On November 27, 1971, in South Bend, she
married David E. Smeeton, who preceded her in death on May 15,
1999. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and
sisters. Mrs. Smeeton is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Bud) Goddard
of Aurora, IL; a granddaughter, Robin (James) Mayorkas; a
great-granddaughter, Annette Mayorkas; and a sister, Judy (Bob) Timbers
of Rochester, IN. Mrs. Smeeton was a beautician. She was a very
active member of Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, and
was a member of the widows and widowers club.
A funeral Mass will be held for Mrs. Smeeton
at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, in Christ the King Catholic Church,
South Bend. Cremation will take place at Welsheimer Crematory,
South Bend. The Welsheimer Family Funeral Homes assisted the
family with arrangements. The family request that memorial
