Sister M. Laurita Slattery CSC, 93, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the convent after a lengthy illness. She was born Loretto Slattery on Feb. 15, 1892 in Crawfordsville, Ind. There are no survivors. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Sept 7, 1917, coming from Crawfordsville, and was received as a novice Jan. 1, 1918, She professed her vows Jan. 6, 1920. She was a home economics teacher and was assigned to the Home Economics Department at St. Mary’s college, serving as the director of the department from 1914 to 1967, when she retired to St. Mary’s Convent.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, St. Mary’s. Friends may call today and Thursday in St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake will be conducted at 7 p.m. today.
