Woodrow W.
Slater, 71, of 23910 W. Edison Road, died early today in his
home. He was employed with South Bend Lathe, retiring in
1973 after 31 years of service.
Born November 6,
1912, in LaPorte County, he had lived in South Bend since 1947.
On October 14, 1946, in South Bend, he married Mary K. Hews, who
survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Susan E. Wantuck
of Mishawaka; a son, John W. of LaPorte; a stepson, William H.
Borst of South Bend; a grandchild; two sisters, Vera Orders of
Jacksonville FL and Evelyn Varner of Grand Rapids MI; and a
brother, Lisle of South Bend.
Services will be
at 1pm Saturday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William
St., and burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may
call from 3 to5 and 7 to 9pm Friday in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Ardmore Lions Club of which he
was a member.
