James L. Slater

ROLLING PRAIRIE - James L. Slater, 41, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., died on Monday, Aug. 11, as the result of an elevator accident at the 1st Source Banking Center. Mr. Slater was employed by Millar Elevator as a repair technician.

 

He was born on Aug. 10, 1956, in South Bend, Ind., to Fred and Mary Ann Slater, who both survive. He is also survived by three daughters, Jamie, Janna and Jaclyn, all of Rolling Prairie; two sons, Jeremy and Joseph of Rolling Prairie; two grandchildren, Donny and James; and by a brother, Ronald of North Liberty, Ind.

 

Mr. Slater was a graduate of LaSalle High School, a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 57, and bowled for Michiana Lift at Regal Lanes.

 

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony Letko presiding. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Contributions may be made to the James L. Slater Memorial Fund, c/o 1st Source Bank, P.O. Box 1602, South Bend, IN 46634.
