News of the death of Brother Gabriel CSC,
whose worldly name was John Slager, was received last night.
Brother Gabriel was born in Sleek, Holland on Jan. 4, 1883. He
received the holy habit Sept. 29, 1899, and professed Jan. 6,
1908.
A little more than a year ago he was sent by
the Order of the Holy Cross on mission duty to Decca, Eastern
Bengal, India, after 15 years service in the order. Death came to
him on the 29th of October, 1914, due to hepathic
cancer.
