Helen L. Skodinski

March 8, 1925 - July 23, 2001

Helen L. Skodinski, 76, of Garden Lane, South Bend, Ind., passed away peacefully at 11:52 p.m. Monday, July 23, in Memorial Hospital.

Helen was born on March 8, 1925, in South Bend, to the late William and Elsie (Stuckman) Lanning. She was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area. Helen married Robert R. "Bob" Skodinski on April 25, 1976. He also preceded her in death on April 5, 2001.

Helen worked at many and various jobs, but her main occupation was a homemaker. She and Bob were active members of the Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club and the Bethany Lutheran Church.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Phillips and wife, Sandra of Plattsburgh, N.Y., August "Bud" Phillips and his companion, Laurel of Morro Bay, Calif., and James "Rick" Phillips and his wife, Nova of Anchorage, Alaska; two stepsons, Philip R. Skodinski and wife, Pat of South Bend, and Chris A. Skodinski and fiancée, Suzi of Mishawaka, Ind.; grandsons, Darron, David and Justin Phillips; granddaughters, Sara and Sally Skodinski; and by great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah and Joshua Phillips.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in Bethany Lutheran Church, 5302 W. Sample Street, South Bend, IN 46619, where visitation will be from one-half hour before the service. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.

Donations in Helen's memory may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
