MISHAWAKA - Julius E. Skene, 78, of Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, formerly of Linden Avenue, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday in the nursing home. Mr. Skene retired in 1978 from Wheelabrator-Frye Corp. after 33 years of service.

He was born June 29, 1915, in International Falls, Minn. On Sept. 27, 1941, he married Gerry Russ. She died Feb. 27, 1969. On Feb. 14, 1970, in Mishawaka, he married Julia R. Wilken. She survives with a daughter, Linda Traub of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sons, Gregory of Atlanta and Mark of Niles; and seven grandchildren. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 130, Elks Lodge 235 and Loyal Order of Moose, and volunteer for Lutheran Braille Volunteers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
