South Bend – Charles J. Skees, 63, of 1114 Goodland, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital after a six-month illness. He was employed by the Bendix Corp. for the past 35 years.

 

An Army veteran of World War II, he was born on April 14, 1916, in South Bend, and lived all his life in the area.

 

On Nov. 1, 1940 in South Bend he married Betty Gregg, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Miss Peggy Skees and Mrs. Sharon Bates, both of South Bend; two sons, Donald of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Michael of South Bend, and four grandchildren.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Bernard Pegarski CSC, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home.
