George E. Sibley Sr.

SOUTH BEND - George E. Sibley Sr., 80, of Key West, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died Tuesday in Florida Keys Memorial Hospital after an illness.

 

Mr. Sibley retired as a master plumber from O.J. Shoemaker Heating and Plumbing, South Bend. He was born Feb. 23, 1913, in South Bend. On Nov. 8, 1941, he married Sophie Stroyna. She survives with a daughter, Anne Catherine Holloway of Key West; a son, George E. Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a brother, Harvey of Naples, Fla. He was a member of Elk Lodge No. 235 and Little Flower Church, both of South Bend.

 

A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. March 6, in the church. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date in South Bend. Dean-Lopez Funeral Home, Key West, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's disease research.
