Janet A. Shutes, 73, formerly of East Borley Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Tuesday evening, April 11, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Janet was born on Feb. 10, 1927, in Mishawaka, to Walter and Mildred Erne, who preceded her in death. Janet worked at Uniroyal in the Production Control Department, retiring on August 30, 1985.

On May 21, 1944, in Mishawaka, Janet married Russell D. Shutes, who survives. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Larry D. Shutes of Bothell, Wash., Cheryl D. (Roland) Barnes of Mishawaka, Kristen M. Barnes of Greenville, S.C., Dean A. (Shelly) Barnes, Lindsay Barnes, Tyshell Barnes, Kristen R. Barnes and Rosemary Hums, all of Mishawaka.

Friends called from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. today. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Miller of the First Baptist Church in Mishawaka, where Janet was a member. Burial is to follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka.
