Hiram W. Shirk, age 79, of 512 Leland Avenue, died at 10:50 PM Thursday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. James C. Miller, 429 Calhoun Street, Mishawaka, after an illness of four months with a heart ailment.  He was born in Epharta, Pennsylvania, August 15, 1858, and came here seventy years ago.  Surviving besides a daughter, Mrs. Miller, are three sons, Lawrence, of Walkerton, this county; Clifford H., of Niles, Michigan, and Willis K., of Mishawaka; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Friends may call in the Orvis funeral home from 7 PM Saturday and until funeral services there at 3:15 PM Monday.  Rev. Mr. William E. Clark, D. D., pastor of the first Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
