Sister M. Aquinata Shea CSC

Sister M. Aquinata CSC, died Wednesday in Saint Mary’s Convent, following a prolonged illness. She was born Josephine Agnes Shea in Indianapolis in 1880 and entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1902, receiving her habit the same year. She made her final vows in 1907. During her community life she taught for 17 years at St. Joseph grade school in South Bend, and was a superior and teacher at Holy Cross School in South Bend. Other schools to which she was assigned are St. Paul’s in New York City; St. Peter’s in LaPorte; St. Mary’s in Anderson, Ind.; St. Mary’s in Union City, Ind.; St. Charles in Crawfordsville, Ind.; St. Patrick’s in Danville, Ill.; and St. Joseph in Harvard, Ill. She is survived by a cousin, Msgr. James J. Doyle, of Marion College, Indianapolis.

 

A requiem high mass will be offered at 6 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call at the convent parlor.
