Mrs. Lucinda B. Shearer

 

            Mrs. Lucinda B. Shearer, age 77, a resident of South Bend for three-quarters of a century died in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ethel McCormick, 136 East Bowman street a5 5:45 o’clock this morning.  Her death followed a lingering illness.

            Born, June 3 1852, in Plainfield, Ill. The youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Miller, she came to this city with her parents when two and one-half years old.  On Dec. 2, 1875, she was united in marriage with John Shearer, whose death occurred Sept. 6, 1912.  Surviving besides her granddaughter, are one son, Oren O. Shearer of Lafayette, Ind., and one brother, Louis F. Miller of South Bend.  Ten other brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

            Brief funeral services will be held in the residence at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon followed by further services at 2:30 o’clock in Broadway Evangelical church.  The pastor, Rev. George S. Losier, will be in charge and burial will be in Bowman cemetery.
