Sister Mary Mansueta CSC, 81, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died Monday afternoon. She was born as Margaret Sheahan on Feb. 8, 1889 in County Limerick, Ireland. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on May. 2, 1919 and recited her profession of vows on Jan. 6, 1922. She was assigned to teaching the early part of her community life and served at St. Mary’s in South Bend; and in New York and Illinois. In 1924 she transferred to hospitals and served in the accounting departments at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio; and in Jacksonville, Ill.; and in Anderson, Ind. From 1947 to 1958 she was assigned to Holy Cross Convent at Notre Dame, and the she returned to St. Mary’s College, where she served until recently while residing at the convent.

 

The funeral mass will be in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on St. Mary’s campus at 5 p.m. Wednesday. It will be followed by burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the convent.
