Henrietta Shannon

October 16, 1917 - March 29, 2009
Mishawaka -- Henrietta Shannon, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 29th in Elkhart Hospice House, Elkhart.   Henrietta was born on October 16, 1917, to Louis and Hariett (Hill) Parker.  In April 1945 as the former Henrietta Parker, in Arkansas she married Jesse J. Shannon, who preceded her in death on January 6, 1969.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Charlie Mae Copley; a son Jesse J. Shannon Jr., in 1998 and grandsons, Jesse J. Shannon III, Anthony Moore, and Gregory Price Jr, and Jesse's daughter, Charna.   Left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Constance "Connie" Moore of Mishawaka, and Blanche (Owen) Samuels of Mishawaka; a son Willie (Belva) Shannon of Roanoke, VA; daughter-in-law Wanda Shannon of Mishawaka; a sister Margaret White of Three Rivers, MI, and three grandchildren, Christopher Moore, Brian Hamlet, Tiffany Shannon; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth J. Moore, Christopher A. Moore, Joseph M. Moore, Jesse Shanon IV, Quincy Hamlet, and a host of nieces and nephews.   Henrietta was a member of New Apostolic Church (in South Bend), SAGE, Senior Citizens for Memorial Hospital, and the Foster Grandparent Program.  Henrietta enjoyed life.  She loved children, and she loved helping them and watching them grow.   There will be a visitation for Henrietta from 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 1, in New Apostolic Church, 5602 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, with Shepard Dale Nelson officiating.  Burial will follow in Osceola Cemetery, Osceola.   Memorial contributions can be made in Henrietta's name to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 22579 Old US 20 East, Elkhart, IN  46516, or to St. Margaret's House, 117 N.
