Richard L. Shade, 84, of 27767 State Road 4, North Liberty, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, at Miller Merry Manor, Plymouth, Ind.
He retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1969 after 35 years employment.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1913, in Liberty Township, living here a lifetime.
He was married on June 6, 1936, in Lakeville, Ind., to Elizabeth N. Donathen, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Sandra N. Rowe of Plymouth and Joyce E. Cripe of North Liberty; a son, Gary L. of Hilton Head, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two step-grandchildren; and by a sister, Evelyn Harbaugh of North Liberty.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Harbaugh.
Mr. Shade was a member of Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church, and services will be held there at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, officiated by James H. Snell, pastor. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home.
