South Bend Tribune 10/13/2008
MISHAWAKA - Warren Arthur Ritter, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at home surrounded by his family. Warren was born September 24, 1947, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Warren A. and Pauline (Kreigh) Ritter. Warren is survived by his loving wife, Debra, his true love and an angel for the care and support given during Warren's extended illness. Warren is also survived by his two daughters, Rhonda J. Ritter of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Fawn (Brett) Chustz of Pensacola, FL; three sisters, Sue Modlin of Mishawaka, Jean Sanders of Columbus, OH, and Paula (Jerry) Seiler of Mishawaka; a brother, Michael (Pam) Ritter of Lakeville, IN; his dear Aunt Eve Love of Mishawaka; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Phil and Betty Kamerer;; and his faithful and goofy dog, "GUS." Warren was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Murray Modlin and Chuck Sanders; and father-in-law, Dennis A. Emerick.

Warren was previously employed by South Bend Lathe, then was co-owner of Great Lakes Heating and Air Conditioning, then retired from The City of South Bend as Heating Inspector. Warren was always an example to everyone and will be remembered for his zest for life and his strong will to live with great dignity. Warren loved his computer, his home, but his greatest joy was his great sense of humor and silliness, and making us all laugh with all of his corny jokes (even though we all heard some of them, more than once). We are extremely blessed to have had you in our lives, you will always remain close in our hearts and missed, and will never be forgotten -- you were "ONE OF A KIND."

As per his request, there will be no services at this time. Cremation will take place with Hahn Funeral Home assisting the family with arrangements. The family would also like to thank Dr. Bruce McClure and his staff for their outstanding care and kindness and the nurses and staff of Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
