Pauline E. Rickel

June 20, 1911 - March 26, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Pauline E. Rickel, 98, died Friday in Hospice House. Born June 20, 1911, in Tippecanoe, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Rickel. She had four sisters and one brother who also preceded her in death. In 1940 Pauline moved to South Bend to attend South Bend Business College. She met and married Epamanondous Stewart in 1941. They had two daughters, Sandy and Sherri. Epamanondous died in 1965. She later married Ward Severeid, who died in 1978. Pauline spent her later years traveling, sewing, and playing bingo. She was an avid reader, loving Danielle Steele books. She also enjoyed gardening and had a great love of flowers. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be missed by all. Surviving are two daughters, Sandy (Lee) Holland of Niles, MI, and Sherri (Jim) Britton of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Kim Holland of Granger, Jim (Mitzi) Holland of Granger and Jeff (Margot) Holland of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Chad Raptis of AZ, Lee Kelly Raptis of Granger, Ally, Justin and Morgan Holland of Granger, Zoey and Brady Holland of Chicago; and great-great-grandchildren, Faith and Grace Raptis of AZ. A family celebration of her life will be held in the McGann Hay, University Chapel, Edison Road, on Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Pauline's friends may call one hour prior.
