WALKERTON - Walter N. Rhodes, 61, passed away suddenly on December 23, 2009, in his residence. Mr. Rhodes was a lifelong Walkerton Resident. He was born on January 21, 1948, the only child of Dalton and Wanda (nee Peterson) Rhodes. Walter is survived by his girlfriend, Cheryl E. Burns of Walkerton; a son, Walter Brooks Rhodes of Anderson; and daughter, Lucinda Doolittle of South Bend; four grandchildren, Christian, Cassandra, Opal and Tyler. Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his father in 1968 and his mother in 1997. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on January 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. EST in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton with burial of ashes to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be two hours prior to service.
