South Bend Tribune 7/27/2008
MISHAWAKA - Mildred "Mona" Reilly, 80, went to be with our Lord at 3:16 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008, after a short illness. She was the ninth child born to Nicholas and Pauline Maslanich on February 25, 1928. Mona was the last surviving sibling. On September 11, 1948, the former Mildred Maslanich married James F. Reilly Jr. in Williamsburg, VA. Nine months later, on June 9, 1949, they married again in the Catholic Church in Republic, PA. Jim preceded her in death on October 26, 1998, 45 days after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They had six children, James F. III (Christine) of South Bend, Patrick of Mishawaka, Barbara (Jeffery) Colborn of Granger, Richard of Mishawaka, Susan of Vandalia, MI, and Kathleen (Mark) Manuszak of Mishawaka, with whom she resided for the last three years. Mona was blessed with nine beautiful grandchildren, Brandon (Tara), Pepe, Candace and Brianne Reilly, Ashley and Kelsey Colborn, Mitchell, Melanie and Zachary Manuszak. And her special blessing of a great-grandson, Noah Reilly. Jim and Mona moved to the Michiana area when they came out for Jim to attend The University of Notre Dame. They stayed to raise their family; she lived in the area for 58 wonderful years. The Reillys started their own metallurgy business in 1974 called Jimona, Inc. (Jim and Mona put together), and their sons still run it today. Mrs. Reilly retired from the business in 1996.

Visitation for Mona will be on Monday, July 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka (corner of Third Street and Mill Street), with Father Camillo Tirabassi officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of South Bend.
