MISHAWAKA - Virginia W. Reese, 92, of Mishawaka, passed
away on Monday, August 18th, in the Hospice House of South Bend.
Virginia was born in Clay City, Indiana, on May 13, 1916, to the
late Harry A. and Dora G. (Krieble) Liechty. As
Virginia W. Liechty, she married Paul J. Reese in Rapid City,
South Dakota, on June 6, 1943. She graduated in 1934 from Cory
High School, and graduated from Indiana State University in 1938
where she received a bachelor's degree in music and art. She
later received her master's degree in early childhood education
from St. Mary's College. She retired from the Mishawaka Public
School Corporation in 1981 after teaching kindergarten for 32
years. She was a member of the Mishawaka Women's Club and a
member of the Delta Theta Chi sorority. Virginia was also a
member of the First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka. She
found great joy in playing the piano and the violin. Virginia is
survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul J. Reese of Mishawaka;
their two children, Mary (Joseph) Franco of Tustin, CA,
and Stephen Reese of Osceola. She is also survived by her five
grandchildren, Helen, Amy, Andrew, Matthew and Daniel; along with
three great-grandchildren, Mina, Roman and Dominic; a sister,
Marjorie (David) Jackson of Vincennes, IN; and two nieces,
Elizabeth (William) Updike and Catherine (Woodrow) Cardinal.
Visitation is to be held in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20th, and one hour prior to the services in the church. Funeral services celebrating Virginia's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 21st, in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd inside the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Larry Whitehead officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
