Howard Ashcroft Raymond

Feb. 18, 1880 – Jan. 10, 1967

Mishawaka - Howard Ashcroft Raymond, 86, of 14399 E. McKinley Hwy., who had been ill for three months. Died at 10 a.m. Tuesday in his residence.

 

He retired from the U.S. Rubber Co., in 1938 after having been employed by that firm for 42 years. At the time of his retirement he was the chief chemist at the Ball-Band plant.

 

Mr. Raymond was born in Charlestown, Mass., Feb. 18, 1880 and came here 33 years ago from Summerville, Mass.

 

He married Sarah McKellar in Boston, Mass., April 18, 1909.

 

Mrs. Raymond survives with two sons, Ross W. of Mishawaka and Howard A. Jr. of Slyvania, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Martin Honold of Mishawaka; Mrs. William McKechnie of Needham, Mass., and Mrs. Pearl Schalliol of Washington, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother Chester B. Raymond of East Sanwich, Cape Cod, Mass., and a sister, Mrs Fred Robbins of South Hampton, Mass.

 

A son George F. Raymond died in 1962.

 

The Bubb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

Mr Raymond was a member of the Unitarian Church, South Bend.

Private funeral services for Howard A. Raymond, 86, of 14399 E. McKinley Hwy., who died Tuesday were held at 1 p.m. today in his residence. Rev. John H. Meengs, PhD., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated and burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
