Dorothy M. Raymond

Dorothy Margaret (Eberhart) Raymond, 87, formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., died on March 19, 2001, in Arlington Memorial Hospital, Arlington, Texas.

Dorothy had lived in Mishawaka all of her life until the death of her husband, Ross Raymond, on Feb. 24, 1996. Since that time she had resided in Framingham, Mass., and Arlington with her twin sister, Doris Forsberg, who survives.

Dorothy was born on April 17, 1913, in Mishawaka, to Harry and Margaret (Weiss) Eberhart. She was a 1930 graduate of Mishawaka High School, and attended the College of Commerce and the South Bend Conservatory. On June 22, 1940, she married Roswell W. Raymond in her parents home in Mishawaka. She was employed as an executive secretary at the former Ball Band (Uniroyal), retiring in 1970 after 40 years. She was president and Woman of the Year in 1961 for the South Bend Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. Dorothy was an accomplished pianist and also enjoyed performing dramatic readings for various local groups before her marriage. She and Ross were members of the University Club of Notre Dame, and were avid supporters of Notre Dame football for many years.

In addition to her husband, Ross, Dorothy was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harry W. "Jim" Eberhart of Mishawaka and Walter J. Eberhart of New Carlisle, Ind.

She is survived by their widows, Marcella Eberhart of Mishawaka and Ann Adele Eberhart of Muncie, Ind. Dorothy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews from the Raymond and Eberhart families, to whom their home and hearts were always open. Her niece, Janice (James) Robinson of Arlington, has been her caregiver for the past several years.

Before leaving Mishawaka, Dorothy was a member of Albright United Methodist Church, Mishawaka.

A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Burial will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
