SOUTH BEND - O. M. Rasmussen, 72, of 1722 E. Madison Street, President of the Rasmussen’s Men’s Store, 106 S. Main Street, died Tuesday night in his home after suffering a heart attack. He was born in Racine, Wis. Aug. 15, 1884, and came herein 1912 from Manitowoc, Wis. For many years he was associated with William Renfranz, Jr. in a tailoring business at 123 W. Washington and founded his present business in 1931 under the name of Renfranz-Rasmussen. In 1935 he added a full line of men’s apparel at 108 S. Main, adjacent to the tailoring establishment. In 1941 the business greatly expanded and the name Rasmussen’s Men’s Store was adopted.

 

Mr. Rasmussen’s two sons, William R. and John W., graduated in 1937 from Indiana University school of business administration joined the firm that year. Latest remodeling and expansion of the store took place last September.

 

He married in St. Paul, Minn. in 1911 to Miss Adele Wittman, who survives. Also surviving besides the two sons are five grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Rasmussen of St. Louis, Mo. And James Hendricksen of Chicago, and two sister, Mrs. A. P. Johnson of Negauncee, Mich. and Mrs. George Briggins of St. Paul, Minn.

Funeral services for O. M. Rasmussen will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the McGann Funeral Home, where friends may call. Rev. Daniel M. Fowler, pastor of First Presbyterian Church will officiate and burial will be at Highland Cemetery Mausoleum.
