Richard M. Ramsbey

March 26, 1924 - March 25, 2000

SOUTH BEND — Richard M. Ramsbey, 75, of Layton Road, North Liberty, Ind., passed away at 7 a.m. on Saturday in his residence after an apparent heart attack.

Mr. Ramsbey was born on March 26, 1924 in South Bend, Ind. and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area. On Sept. 7, 1947 he married the former Phyllis J. Pennell who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Linda A. (John) Kopacz and Pamela K. (Howard) Dosmann, both of North Liberty; two sons, Larry R. Ramsbey and Brian D. (Tamera) Ramsbey, both of Walkerton, Ind; seven grandchildren who he loved and cherished; and two brothers, Gene (Lynn) Ramsbey of Argos, Ind. and Thomas W. (Theil) Ramsbey of Smith Field, R.I.

Mr. Ramsbey retired in 1987 from the Bendix Corp. as a senior designer with 40 years service. He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

Mr. Ramsbey was a member of the South Bend Lodge #794 F & AM, Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, Bendix Management Club, and he was an amateur radio operator.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 in the funeral home, Rev. Charles Ternet officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.

The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Emily Hollister Scholarship Fund at any 1st Source Bank or to the charity of the donor's choice.

The Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Ramsbey family.
