John P. Rakowski

SOUTH BEND - Services for John P. “Rock” Rakowski, 77, of East Monroe Street, who died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum of St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a combined rosary will be said at 4 p.m. by the parish and Golden Cluster.

Mr. Rakowski retired from Drewrys and was a former employee of St. John Business Systems. He was born Dec. 27, 1916, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On April 25, 1942, in South Bend, he married Alice Kil. She survives with two daughters, Barbara Wroblewski of South Bend and Christine Meszaros of Rocky Mount, N.C.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sophie Brooks and Bernadette Rakowski, both of South Bend. He was a member of American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and Golden Cluster of the church.
