Alverso Piraccini

Alverso ''Squatso'' Piraccini, 76, of Barrows Court, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 11:56 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.

 

Mr. Piraccini was born on Feb. 8, 1922, in Italy, as the son of Evo and Lousie (Minnoti) Piraccini, who both have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, A.J. Piraccini.

 

Squatso is survived by four daughters, Jo Ann Neely of South Bend, Ind., Ginny Lou Piraccini of Mishawaka, Sally McDonald of South Bend and Marie Piraccini of Mishawaka; a son, Richard Piraccini of Osceola, Ind.; five grandchildren, Toni Neely of South Bend, Traci Nicol of Indianapolis, Ind., Todd Neely of Mishawaka, Nikole Bankowski of Chicago, Ill., and Stephanie McDonald of South Bend; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Neely of Mishawaka, and Jack and Sam Nicol, both of Indianapolis; a sister, Alba Daly of South Bend; and by a brother, Alfio Piraccini of Mishawaka.

 

Mr. Piraccini had worked for Studebaker in South Bend, was the former owner of Poor Squatso's in Osceola, and had retired from the Mishawaka Street Department as an assistant street commissioner.

 

He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360 in Mishawaka, American Legion Post 308, Osceola, and the National Rifle Association.

 

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. James Shafer officiating.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka.

 

Editor: He married Isabelle Valle on Aug. 9, 1942 in St. Joseph County IN. He at one time was married to Mildred A. White.
