SOUTH BEND - Donald A. Pinckert, 84, of Lexington Street, died of  natural causes at 5:40 p.m. Monday in his home. Mr. Pinckert retired in 1972, as plant supervisor at Service Printers Inc. He was born Aug. 9, 1909, in Carmargo, Ill., and lived in South Bend for 75 years, coming from Illinois.

On Nov. 16, 1929, in South Bend, he married Helen I. Merrill. She died Sept. 14, 1981. He is survived by two daughters, Betty Kendall of Edwardsburg and Shirley Burger of South Bend; two sons, Robert L. of South Bend and Donald E. of Mishawaka; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Searfoss of South Bend. He was a member of Westside Church of Christ.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
