Sister M. Ermelinda CSC, 64, a member
of the Holy Cross community at St. Mary’s College, died in
St. Mary’s infirmary Monday morning after a lengthy illness.
She was born in South Bend Jan. 13, 1877, as Constance
Pieniaskiewicz. She spent her entire religious life as a
teacher at St. Hedwig’s School in South Bend, until health
forced her retirement in 1934. Since that time she has resided at
St. Mary’s Convent. She received the holy habit Aug. 15,
1896 and was professed Aug. 15, 1901. Survivors include a
sister, Sister M. Temasis CSC.
The requiem mass will be sung at 5:30 a.m.
Wednesday in the convent Chapel of Our Lady of Loretto, with
internment in the community cemetery at St. Mary’s.
