SOUTH BEND - Kahala Pickens, 24, of
2026 Lincoln Way W., died Sunday morning from a gunshot wound in
the 1100 block of Grace Street. The death is being investigated
as a homicide by the St. Joseph County Special Crimes Unit. Mr.
Pickens was born April 12, 1971, in South Bend. He is survived by
his mother, Annetter Newbill of South Bend; three sisters,
Charone Logan, Charlotte Logan and Leh-Tika McMorris,
all of South Bend; seven brothers, Gary Aspen of Chicago
and Eric Logan, Clifford Bailey, Aaron Webster,
Tyree Bonds, Torrence McMorris and Rey Newbill, all of
South Bend; and a maternal grandmother, Mary Newbill of South
Bend.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Clark's
Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place. Friends may call two
hours before services in the funeral home.
