June 1, 1922 - March 8, 2010SOUTH BEND - Doris June Peregrine, 87, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. Doris June was born on June 1, 1922, in New Hampshire, to the late Herbert and Irene (Abbott) MacKenzie. On June 22, 1946, in New Hampshire, she married Charles Peregrine, who preceded her in death on January 14, 1977. Doris June is survived by her children, Connie Montana of South Bend, Roland (Linda) Peregrine of Grosse Pointe, MI, and Herbie (Sun Hee) Peregrine of Avon, IN; 10 grandchildren, Steven, Michelle, Jessica, Thomas, Michael, Emily, Casey, Charles, James and Aisha; and by her seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret Widman of South Bend. Doris June was a meat cutter for Kroger and retired in 1984. After retirement she worked as a greeter at Meijer's on Portage until 2005. She honorably served in the United States Navy as a Wave and was a member of Tidal Waves. She was a doll collector, enjoyed her family and grandchildren, and loved her cats. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. Cremation will take place.
