Eddie S. Peczkowski

Edward S. “Eddie” Peczkowski, 89, of South Bend IN, passed away peacefully at 3:37pm Sunday, November 13, 2005, in his home, with his loving family present.

 

Eddie was born on May 2, 1916, in South Bend IN to John and Bertha (Bukowski) Peczkowski.  He retired in 1982 from Modern Litho, Grand Rapids MI, where he was employed for ten years.  He had also been employed with National Correct Color for two years and with the former Studebaker Corporation for 28 years.  On June 9, 1945, in South Bend, he married Phyllis A. Ast, who survives.  Also surviving are three daughters, Linda S. (Raymond Jr.) Vanderhulst of Bloomingdale IL, Karen A. (Jeffrey) Smith of South Bend and Marilyn (David) Mills of Lafayette IN; fourteen grandchildren, Raymond “Buddy” Vanderhulst, Michael Vanderhulst, Michelle (Robin) Eiteljorge, Kelly (Jason) Diltz, Erin Smith, Stephanie (Jon) Teusch, Julianna Gonyou, Vincent Gonyou, Joe Mills, Annie (Derrick) Byers, Theresa Mills, Claire Mills, Sam Mills and Jimmy Mills; five great grandchildren, Jack Eiteljorge, Sam Eiteljorge, Madison Diltz, Sophia Diltz and Sophia Byers; two sisters, Mollie Sokol of South Bend and Leona Jordanek of South Bend; and by two brothers, Bernie (Kathryn) Peczkowski of Three Rivers MI, and John (Betty) Peczkowski of South Bend.  Preceding him in death were one sister, Dolores M. Pajakowski, and one brother, Daniel Peczkowski.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Thursday, November 17, 2005, in Holy Cross Church.  Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 until 8pm Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:30pm.  Eddie was a member of Holy Cross Parish and was a 1935 Central High School graduate.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend IN 46637.  To sign the online guest book, visit Kaniewski.com.
