Marie Pechi

Marie Pechi, 89, of E. 16th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in St. Paul's Healthcare Center on Saturday, January 28th.

 

She was born Marie LaCluyse on June 10, 1916, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Octavia and Alfons LaCluyse, who preceded her in death. In 1939, she married John J. Pechi, who also preceded her in death. Other family members preceding her in death were three brothers, Maurice LaCluyse, Cyril LaCluyse and Albert LaCluyse.

 

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very devoted to her family and friends. Surviving are her two daughters, Ginny (Bob) Spencer of South Bend, Ind. and Mary Ann (Jerry) Cavanah of Mishawaka, Ind.; also four granddaughters, Jenny (Barry) Arnett of Fishers, Ind., Tessa Cavanah of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jill (Tim) Sloma of Granger, Ind., and Kate Kytta of Mishawaka, Ind.; and eight great-grandchildren, Jackson, Grace, Randy, Bradley, Courtney, Kaleb, Starr and Josephine.

 

She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bavo's Church.

 

She was employed by Mishawaka School City at Beiger Elementary School, where she was loved and remembered by both students and teachers. "Mickey" or "Pechi" as she was known to her family and friends, always brought laughter to everyone. She brought many a smile with her special wave and nicknames for people. She loved to shop and delighted in finding bargains and was always generous in sharing these with her family.

 

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at St. Paul's Healthcare Center for the loving care and attention they gave to our loved one.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 30, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. A Rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, in St. Bavo's Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, Indiana with the Rev. Jeff Largent officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
