Mrs. Harold James Newton

May 1, 1897 – December 9, 1969

Mrs. Evalyn H. Newton, 72, of 1226 Joyce Dr., died at 4pm Tuesday in Memorial Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

She was born May 1, 1897, in Bertrand MI, and had lived in this area her entire life.  She was married in 1915 in New Carlisle to Edgar L. Hooton, who died in 1925.  In 1928, in LaPorte, she married Harold James Newton, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Edgar L. Hooton of South Bend and Ralph Jay Hooton of Tullahoma TN; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 1pm Friday, with Rev. James E. Pender, pastor of the Trinity Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in the New Carlisle Cemetery.  She was a member of the Nigella Home Extension Club.
