Michael Nevels, 23, of 601 W. LaSalle Ave., Apt. 4, was found dead in his apartment about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, city police said.

His body was taken to the morgue at Memorial Hospital, where an autopsy was performed Wednesday afternoon, said Dr. Louis Grwinski, deputy county coroner.

Grwinski said he was awaiting additional test results before issuing a cause of death.  He added foul play is not suspected in the death.

Nevels' body was discovered after neighbors had complained about a foul odor coming from his apartment, police said.  Officials estimated he may have been dead for several days.

Clark's Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
