SOUTH BEND - Doris J. Nespo, 71, died Tuesday, May 29, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 3, 1935, in Chicago, IL, to the late Art and Dorothy Gannon. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Agan. She grew up in Michigan City and graduated from Elston High School, was a cheerleader at the school, and had graduated from Ivy Tech in South Bend as an LPN. Doris worked several years at Healthwin and the Notre Dame infirmary. She loved Indiana basketball, was a member of South Bend Elks for many years, and was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral.

On August 28, 1954, she married Dan Nespo, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Dianne (Joseph) Nyerges and Cindy (Rich) Agan, both of South Bend; sons, Chris Nespo and Michael Nespo, both of South Bend; and two grandsons, Bob (Sandy) Smiecinski of Chicago and Eric Agan of South Bend. Doris "Absolutely" loved life to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. She could put a smile on your face and was always fun to be with. Doris cherished her family and many friends. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. We'll miss you, Mom.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, in St. Matthew's Cathedral, 1701 Miami St. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 3, in McGann Hay Funeral Home-University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
