SOUTH BEND - Lura Grace Nelson, 97, of Milton Home, formerly of North Shore Drive, died at 8 a.m. today in her residence. Mrs. Nelson was born Oct. 23, 1896, in East Chandler, Mich., and lived in South Bend since 1922, coming from Benton Harbor.
On May 3, 1919, in Benton Harbor, as Lura Grace Richardson, she married Carl Nelson. He died Feb. 28, 1967. She is survived by three grandchildren, Samantha Sager of Key Biscayne, Fla., and Judith Ann Nelson and John A. Nelson, both of Texas. A son, Alan E., died Nov. 6, 1988. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Shrine Club Auxiliary, Progress Club, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
