SOUTH BEND - Dorothy A. Nelson, 85, of Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, died at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Community Hospital. Mrs. Nelson was born April 13, 1910, in Des Moines, Iowa, and lived in this area since July.

In 1934, as Dorothy Carter, she married Raymond F. Braniff. He died in 1957. In 1960, in Minneapolis, she married Noble Nelson. He died in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Lewis of South Bend; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile, both of Des Moines.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
