Janet Z. Nellans, 85, of Michigan Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away Thursday, in Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 6, 1910, in Fulton, Ind., and had lived in this area since 1964. On
Sept. 21, 1934, in Fulton, as Janet Z. Zook, she married Carl R. Nellans, who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1973. She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Nellans of Sparta, Mich. and Donald R. Nellans of Honolulu, Hawaii; four grandchildren; and her identical twin sister, Jane Graham of South Bend.
Mrs. Nellans was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. Both she and her twin, Janes, were accomplished musicians. In 1927, in a basketball game between Fulton High School and Rowan High School, she scored 75 points and is in the Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle, Ind.
Services will be Monday, at 3 p.m., in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, and burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the funeral home, and Monday, one hour prior to services.
