Louis A. Natali

March 9, 1921 - Jan. 5, 2007  

MISHAWAKA - Louis A. Natali, 85, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at 1:30 a.m. He passed away from natural causes.
Louis was born on March 9, 1921, in Gallipoli, Italy, to the late Dr. Cosimo and Gina Natali. As an Italian citizen, Louis served in the U.S. Air Force as part of the 331st Air Service Squadron until 1945. Through a war companion from Mishawaka, Louis was introduced to Rose Jermano via mail correspondence. After three years of correspondence, Louis married Rose in Lecce, Italy, on January 22, 1948. Louis became a U.S. citizen in 1949 and made Mishawaka his home. Louis and Rose were committed to each other by sharing 57 years of marriage until her passing in September 2005.
Louis was a structural engineer from 1949 to 1972 in the firm of Maurer, VanRyn, Ogden and Natali. He completed his career as a structural engineer for Sollitt Construction Company, South Bend, in 1986 when he retired. Louis designed many local structures, including the County City Building in downtown South Bend, and several area schools such as South Bend Washington, the former LaSalle High School, the current Jackson Middle School, Caston High School, Fulton, IN, among many others.
Louis is survived by four sons, Cosimo (Judy) Natali of Carmel, IN, Michael (Mary) Natali of Indianapolis, John Natali and Tony (Andrea) Natali of Mishawaka, IN. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael (Bethany) Natali, David (Jessica) Natali, and Paul Natali, all from Indianapolis, Christopher Natali of Chicago, and Cassie and Hannah Natali of Mishawaka, IN.
Louis, a devout Christian, enjoyed spending time with his family along with carpentry, reading, watching classic movies, and following Purdue University and Bethel College athletics.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 8, from 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will follow visitation on Monday, with the Rev. Donald Neely officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bethel College Athletic Department.
